Water scarcity in Morocco is being exacerbated by reduced rainfall, seasonal disruptions and higher temperatures. In Fez, Eaux de Marseille Morocco is working with the town authority for water and electricity distribution to test combined remote readings of water and electricity meters. This should allow users to better control their consumption and, as a result, reduce water and energy production requirements. Meter information, transmitted through a radio link, is available online and updated daily. The system also acts as a real-time warning mechanism in the event of overconsumption.
