The framework of France’s development policy announced by the President of the Republic during the presentation of the results of the Conference on Development and International Solidarity

Update 2015-04-02

The President of the FWP took part in this official announcement held in Paris on 1st of March, which was an opportunity for the French President to indicate the three main orientations of France’s development policy for the coming years, contributing to :

– development for the least advanced countries through all types of financing, humanitarian aid, technical expertise, etc.;

– maintaining peace and security;

– preserving the planet by seeking an international climate agreement (France has offered to organise a United Nations Conference in 2015) and financing projects in the context of sustainable development.

The President of the Republic also indicated that the various components of French society would be involved in implementing this policy, which will receive dedicated financing to be increased as soon as possible.

In terms of financing, he insisted on the need to develop innovative methods of financing for water and sanitation, taking the example of the Oudin-Santini law and support for projects in this field, first of all in Mali, through a tax on financial transactions.

The FWP’s vocation is to participate in the organisations to be set up to monitor this policy. Contacts will be made with the highest government authorities for this, so that water may become a priority in the French government’s positions in negotiations on the Post-2015 Agenda, Climate negociations and all related political discussions on water and sanitation access.
