In 2015, Ethiopia experienced one of its worst droughts in 30 years. The threat of a major food crisis in the country is rising.

Action contre la Faim is assisting pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Borena in coping with drought, notably through the improvement of access to water, the construction or rehabilitation of water collection and distribution systems, the development of water safety plans, the promotion of family farming, the diversification of income sources and seeds and efforts to enhance access to healthcare and proper nutrition for undernourished children.

“The effects of climate change are already visible and disasters will continue to worsen. Preparing for natural hazards is vital to reduce the impact of climate change”. Maryse Vercoutère, Disaster risk management expert, Action contre la Faim
