SEDIF is a public water authority that promotes innovative projects for sustainable development. It is the first public authorities in France to have achieved carbon neutrality. Today, it offsets its emissions by supporting projects through the purchase of carbon credits. In terms of concrete action, it is implementing an energy-saving strategy. A heat pump, for example, was built at the site of a new reservoir in Villejuif to supply energy for heating and cooling the facility and a pilot photovoltaic system was put in place in the Choisy-le-Roi plant to produce part of the energy needed to treat drinking water. Furthermore, SEDIF will supply water to the Bourget exhibition park during COP21 allowing 40,000 participants to enjoy quality drinking water, free of charge, without any waste or plastic cups.
