Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs

Through its diplomatic and cooperative action, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs promotes the integrated water resources management, particularly in transboundary basins in Africa, Asia, Central Asia and Europe. Thanks to this commitment, France helps to alleviate the tensions between riparian states and to protect the resource for a good share between of users (industrial uses, agricultural and daily needs of the man).

France committed itself to the G8 of Evian in 2003 to double its official development aid for the universal implementation of the right to access to water and sanitation, focusing mainly on the Africa. France is one of the three largest bilateral donors.
