Solidarity Water Europe (SWE)

The International Secretariat for Water (ISW) and Solidarity Water Europe (SWE) gather citizens and organizations actively committed to the water cause. Their engagement involves surveying the application of the movement’s founding texts (Montreal Charter and Strasbourg Declaration) aimed at access for all to water and sanitation. The ISW is based in Montreal, Canada, and SWE in Strasbourg, France.
With a focus on developing knowledge, forging innovative partnerships and encouraging creativity, ISW-SWE develops initiatives that guarantee the right to water, and thus universal access to water and sanitation, while preserving it. ISW-SWE and its partners create bridges and areas for dialogue between stakeholders (civil society, the academic sector, the private sector and institutions).

Project description

The main objective of this cooperation is to make a technical diagnosis of the Nîrnova Basin in order to identify the challenges in each town and, after 24-months, suggest water and sanitation installations for the entire territory. The diagnosis will also be an occasion to identify concrete action to be undertaken during this phase of the project. The second objective of this cooperation is to support the regional councils of Nisporeni and Hincesti and their towns concerned by the measure in building competencies in the water and sanitation sector. This will involve setting up a participative approach involving local authorities and the various stakeholders in the Nîrvona Basin. Key points: The final outcome will be the establishment of a local Water Commission to facilitate an integrated water resources management approach in the entire Nîrvona basin. The commission will bring stakeholders together and give them a sense of responsibility to preserve their water resources.

Project description

Les communautés autochtones de Cuchoquesera et de Waripercca - établies à 5’000 mètres d’altitude sur la tête de bassin versant du fleuve Cachi - ont décidé de transformer leurs ‘’Comités d’eau potable et assainissement’’ en ‘’Comités de gestion de l’infrastructure, des ressources en eau et du territoire’’. Laissées pour compte et particulièrement vulnérables, ces communautés visent ainsi à renforcer leurs capacités d’adaptation aux changements climatiques, afin notamment de protéger durablement les sources d’eau pour les générations futures. Solidarité Eau Europe - Secrétariat international de l’eau (SEESIE), l’Agence de l’Eau Seine-Normandie et leurs partenaires locaux se sont associés pour faciliter la mise en place d’un mode de gouvernance de l’eau favorisant l’adaptation aux changements climatiques. Intégrant infrastructure de l’eau et assainissement, aménagement du territoire, protection des sources d’eau et gestion des services écosystémiques.
