Project description

SIAAP implements water-saving programs to adapt to rain variability to mitigation through improving the energy efficiency of its processes and infrastructure. The SIAAP is now capable of conducting its own overall assessment of GHGs and identifying the stages of its operations that emit the most pollution. This tool is also a decision support tool for the investment projects selected by the SIAAP.

MAGES: an effluent management support model of the SIAAP

Project description

MAGES is a powerful decision-support system that helps prevent, in particular, the discharge of untreated water into the natural
environment. It collects all data from actors in the field (water flow, network status, sewage plant operation) 24 hours a day and also
integrates weather forecasts from Météo France. The system analyses this information in real time and suggests the most suitable
scenarios in the case of heavy storms, maintenance work on the network, etc. This data, in addition to its main use for real-time
operations, can also be used for studies.

Project description

SIAAP and Syctom, public services in the Ile-de-France region and industrial players, are facing major technical challenges in a high-density urban region. The Cométha project aims to reduce greenhouse gases by recovering as much as possible of the carbon contained in liquid and solid waste. These are converted into renewable and recovered energy in the form of biomethane. With its R&D phase already complete, the project will enable all of the sewage sludge and the organic fraction of household waste that has not already been composted to be treated. The manures and fats from the treatment of wastewater are also involved. Methanization of these products produces renewable energy (biogas), which is injected into gas networks to fuel vehicles, heat premises, produce electricity, etc.

Project description

The Hai River Basin, which covers 318,000 km2 and four provinces (Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Inner Mongolia) and two large municipalities (Beijing and Tianjin), was selected to develop a pilot 4-year project. It especially aims to test the application in China of some mechanisms for basin management, water pollution control and eco - system protection, used in France since the 1964 Act, which created the Water Agencies.

Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate

Project description

The Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate is an international collaboration forum that facilitates dialogue on water, through which megacities will learn from each other’s experience, exchange best practices, partner with appropriate technical, academic and financial institutions, as well as design and implement their individual responses to the challenges of climate change. The Alliance was established at the the Water, Megacities and Global Change International Conference(link is external) (Eaumega2015) held in December 2015, in Paris, which focused on climate change impacts on water resources and risks in megacities. Within the international context of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement, a Declaration was framed during the Eaumega2015 Conference and a new Alliance was launched by its organizers: ARCEAU IdF, SIAAP and I.C.L.E.I Local Government for Sustainability.

Description of the product

This tool is devised to aid decision-making, in particular to avoid discharging untreated water into the natural environment. It ensures 24/7 collection of all data from actors on the field (i.e. water flow, state of the network, operation of factories) and proposes the most suitable scenarios in real time for each specific situation, e.g. violent storms, maintenance work on the network.
