Water Governance and Gender: towards a feminist and intergrated management of water resources

Wednesday 22 May 2024, 9am - 10am

What does a gender-responsive water governance framework look like? This roundtable will open a dialogue on what makes a feminist water policy, the role of development agencies in supporting gender-responsive water management programs, and the role of civil society and international community in establishing standards for an inclusive water governance framework.

Purpose:

This event will seek to strengthen dialogue between French and international actors working on water governance and gender equality. It will aim to create a fruitful discussion between the different approaches to the issue of gender in water management and governance: from the point of view of a feminist diplomacy of the state, to that of development agencies, through to by civil society at the local and international level.

Program:

– Introduction of the subject

– Setting the scene: what is the state of inclusive water governance today?

– Presentation of a water management project taking into account the gender dimension

– Panel discussion: What does an international feminist policy for water governance look like? What interactions between stakeholders: civil society, international community, state actors?

– Questions/Answers with the public
