Rowing Europe: protecting rivers and freshwater

Monday 20 May 2024, 2pm - 2:30pm

The event will provide an opportunity to discuss the MNHN’s role in studying and protecting freshwater ecosystems, by highlighting the “Rowing Europe” project, which aims to alert, communicate and raise awareness of the state of Europe’s rivers by rowing. This project combines science and education to preserve rivers and freshwater. Crossing 5 European countries has enabled us to take stock of visible and invisible plastic pollution. The event will also reveal the impact of endocrine disruptors in the water sampled.

Purpose:

The aim of the event is to present Europe à la Rame, a scientific and educational project on the biodiversity of Europe’s rivers, which has made it possible to take stock of the biodiversity of the rivers in the five countries crossed by the rower and to study the threats to it.
