Decentralized solutions: sustainable, innovative approaches to improving access to safe, affordable water for all

Thursday 23 May 2024, 9am - 10am
Access to safe and affordable water for all remains a pressing issue in many countries around the world, despite the ambition of SDG6-related programs. Unfortunately, the data shows that we are not on track to reach the goals set by the UN for SDG6 by 2030 and achieve universal coverage.

These numbers have far-reaching consequences, impacting not only health, but also education, local economy and the environment. Improving access to clean drinking water will not only enhance living conditions but also promote local development and prosperity.

To accelerate progress towards SDG6, it is crucial to develop and implement innovative solutions while promoting collective action. We must think out of the box, imagine new and impactful solutions in collaboration with other stakeholders and expedite their implementation.
Decentralized solutions can play a significant role in the challenge, relying on innovation, collaboration and long-term impact.

Panelists will present the outcomes of recent projects and discuss key success factors to accelerate the implementation of these solutions

Purpose:

Promote the complementarity of decentralized solutions with network solutions, especially in peri-urban or rural areas.
