Fighting waste and plastic pollution: a collective effort to protect freshwater and oceans!

Plastic is the most common type of waste found in aquatic environments. Collaboration between managers of watersheds, coastal and maritime areas and waste managers is necessary to protect aquatic environments biodiversity, the quality of water resources and human health, as well as local economic development. The first part of the session will provide a global perspective on waste management and its pollution impacts, from waterways to coastal ecosystems. The second part will focus on the Indonesian context.
Purpose:
Communicate the effectiveness of upstream waste management actions to inspire decision-makers to take action against plastic pollution, but also for health, biodiversity and economic development.
